Misteral Pergola with Glass Roof: Light, Safety and Year-Round Use

1. Is a glass roof safe from hail?
Absolutely. Safety is the top priority for glass roofs. We use only tempered (ESG) or laminated safety glass (VSG). These glasses are thermally treated for high impact resistance. In the rare event of extreme breakage (VSG), the glass remains in one piece on the interlayer, ensuring that people underneath are not at risk.

2. Does a glass roof overheat in summer?
Glass transmits solar heat, which is desirable in winter but can cause overheating in summer. For optimal comfort, we recommend:

• Shading: Motorized awnings (e.g., canopy) can be installed above or below the glass.

• Ventilation: If the pergola is enclosed with walls, sliding panels or a combination with louvers (hybrid pergola) can provide airflow.

3. Does a glass pergola reduce daylight inside the house?
No, this is its main advantage over louvered or solid roofs. Glass transmits almost 100% of light, keeping interior spaces (living room, kitchen) naturally bright, even in winter.

4. How is the glass on the roof cleaned?
The roof is installed with a minimal slope, allowing water to drain and automatically rinse dust during rain. For thorough cleaning, the glass is walkable (with proper safety and equipment) or can be cleaned using telescopic tools.

5. Can a glass pergola be combined with louvers?
Yes. This is an exclusive feature of the Misteral system. Within the same frame, one module can be glass (e.g., above an entrance or window) and the adjacent module louvers (e.g., above a dining area). The transition is seamless, and the structure functions as a cohesive whole.

6. Where does the water drain?
The system has fully integrated, hidden drainage. Water flows from the glass into a gutter concealed in the frame profile and then through a pipe inside the post into the ground. No external gutters or pipes disrupt the aesthetics.
