Technical Features - Bioclimatic PergolasMisteral Bioclimatic Pergola is a pergola that allows execution of pergolas with large spans and a minimal number of posts. We can create “regular” shapes (square and rectangular pergolas) as well as “irregular” shapes of bioclimatic pergolas, such as triangular shapes, etc.
Different design options are made possible by a special type of pergola construction, as the pergola angle can be executed from 30 up to 160 degrees, fully according to project requirements.
With a standard type of construction, a pergola with four posts can be built up to the dimensions 7150 x 7150 mm. If the pergola is fixed to a wall on one side, it can be supported on the other side with only two posts at this size.
For special pergola designs, the clear span without posts can be extended up to 10,000 x 10,000 mm. If the bioclimatic pergola is fixed to a wall on one side, it can be supported on the other side with only two posts at this size.
For every pergola, we calculate in advance its static strength, sunlight study, and water drainage study.
For all Misteral pergolas, water drainage is integrated in the center of the post of the bioclimatic pergola.
Maximum profile lengths and cross-section dimensions of Misteral bioclimatic pergola profiles: |
Bioclimatic pergola slats:
We offer 3 types of slats depending on the dimensions and static requirements of the bioclimatic pergola.
Thickness of pergola structural profiles:
between 3 mm and 10 mm.
The pergola is entirely made of corrosion-free materials:
Aluminium and stainless steel of AISI 316 quality, including construction, static brackets, and connection materials.
All our constructions:
Bioclimatic pergolas, fixed pergolas, and carports can be made in a uniform type and design, for a harmonious look of your home and all coverings in your yard.
Water drainage:
Integrated in the pergola post, diameter fi 50 mm or fi 70 mm.
Pergola electrification:
For safety, the mains voltage of 220V is transformed to 24V for maximum safety of the pergola.
PARALLEL SLATS OF THE BIOCLIMATIC PERGOLAThanks to the largest rotation angle of slats on the market, up to 160 degrees, parallel orientation of slats allows achieving the necessary winter sunlight for buildings and glass surfaces, as well as summer shading throughout the day. Correct slat orientation is crucial because only in this way the pergola can fully provide the bioclimatic function (effect of sitting under a tree, where heat rises between leaves and creates pleasant cooling).
CONSTRUCTION TYPE OF MISTERAL BIOCLIMATIC PERGOLAAll our pergola structural profiles, posts, horizontal profiles, and bioclimatic slats are homogeneous, meaning they are made of a single piece and not click-together aluminum profiles, which over time may lose static quality due to aluminum expansion and may even separate. It is particularly important that the structural profiles are made from one piece, especially for the posts, as they are statically most loaded. This is much higher quality than posts made from two L-profiles joined by “click”.
PERGOLA QUALITY IN NUMBERS:
Every year we install approximately 350 bioclimatic pergolas for private clients, and we also equip larger projects such as hotels, campsites, and row houses. |
1. Is it really possible to install a 10x10 m pergola on just four posts?
Yes. This is a specialty of Misteral engineering. We use reinforced, homogeneous profiles and statically optimized louvers, allowing us to span extreme areas of up to 100 m² without intermediate support posts.
2. Why do you emphasize that the profiles are not “click” assembled?
Many pergolas on the market have posts made of two “L” profiles joined together with a click system and screwed. Such posts are statically weaker and may deform due to material expansion or contraction. Misteral uses only one-piece, homogeneous tubes, which are statically superior and durable.
3. Can you make a pergola in an irregular shape (e.g., triangular)?
Yes. Our construction system allows joining profiles at angles from 30° to 160°. This means we can adapt to sloped terraces, triangular atriums, or irregular building shapes without sacrificing functionality.
4. How is electrical safety ensured?
Since a pergola is an outdoor structure exposed to rain, safety is crucial. All motors, lights, and sensors operate at 24V low voltage. Transformers are safely enclosed, completely eliminating the risk of electric shock.
5. How much snow load can the pergola withstand?
Load capacity depends on dimensions, but our constructions can support up to 500 kg/m². For each installation, we perform a static calculation based on your specific location (snow zone) and size to ensure 100% safety.
6. Are all your products visually coordinated?
Yes. Bioclimatic pergolas, fixed pergolas, and carports are made from a uniform type of construction (260x50 mm profiles, 155 mm posts). This ensures that your entire outdoor area – from the yard to the terrace – maintains a cohesive and premium appearance.
