Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. When should the B220 model be chosen instead of the smaller B140?
Choose the B220 model when you have large glazed surfaces (wider than 2 meters) that you want to shade in a single span, without intermediate supports. B220 allows spans of up to 3.2 meters, whereas B140 is limited to approximately 2 meters. B220 is also visually more suitable for larger buildings, as it appears more solid and proportionate.

 

2. Do such large louvers allow complete blackout?
Yes. Despite their 220 mm size, these louvers feature specially engineered overlapping fins. When the louvers are closed, these fins overlap and prevent light penetration. This is a unique feature of the Misteral system at such large dimensions.

 

3. Are B220 brise-soleil resistant to hail?
Extremely. These are likely among the most impact-resistant shading systems available. The thick-walled extruded aluminum easily withstands even severe hail that would otherwise damage blinds or shutters, thereby protecting your valuable panoramic glazing.

 

4. Can the B220 system be installed vertically?
Yes. Vertical installation of B220 louvers is very popular in modern architecture. This configuration is particularly effective on east- and west-facing façades, as it better blocks low-angle sun while still allowing lateral views (left/right).

 

5. How are such large and heavy louvers operated?
Due to the size and weight of the B220 system, motorized operation is the standard and recommended solution. We use powerful, reliable motors that enable smooth rotation of up to 150 degrees. The system can be connected to sun and wind sensors or integrated into a central smart home system.

 

6. Do B220 brise-soleil require a special substructure?
Yes. Due to their weight and high wind resistance (up to 200 km/h), the guides and substructure must be securely anchored to the building’s load-bearing structure (concrete or steel). Our team verifies the statics and prepares the appropriate anchoring before installation.
