Options include aluminium panels or insulated panels, providing full shading and additional thermal insulation, suitable for glazed areas.

 

Waterproofing:

Reliable waterproofing is ensured through innovative, hidden aluminium profiles, discreetly integrated into the timber structure. These channels allow fast and efficient rainwater drainage down through the columns.

1. What is the advantage of laminated wood over solid wood?
Laminated wood (BSH) is made of multiple layers of wood glued under pressure. This gives it significantly higher load-bearing capacity and dimensional stability. Unlike solid wood, laminated wood minimally shrinks or expands and does not crack, which is essential for fixed glazing to prevent the glass from breaking due to structural movement.

 

2. Does a wooden structure require a lot of maintenance?
Less than you might think, thanks to the use of larch or oak:

  • Larch: Naturally rich in resin and inherently durable. Over time, it develops a silver-gray patina (natural protection). If you want to maintain its fresh color, occasional oiling is recommended.

  • Oak: Extremely hard and durable; occasional maintenance oiling is recommended to preserve its aesthetic appearance.

  • Aluminum parts (gutters, profiles): Require no maintenance.

 

3. How is drainage designed to prevent wood from rotting?
This is a key advantage of the Misteral WOOD system. Water never flows directly over the wood. Hidden aluminum profiles are integrated into the wooden beams, collecting water and directing it through a pipe hidden inside the column to the ground. The wood stays dry and protected.

 

4. Can I combine a wooden structure with a glass roof?
Yes, this is one of the most beautiful combinations. The warmth of wood and the modernity of glass create a stunning ambiance. We use tempered safety glass, resistant to hail and snow, with thickness adapted according to structural calculations.

 

5. Is the WOOD fixed pergola wind-resistant?
Absolutely. Despite its natural appearance, the structure is engineered for extreme loads. Massive laminated columns and strong joints provide wind resistance up to 200 km/h, the same as our metal pergolas.

 

6. Can ZIP blinds be installed on a fixed wooden pergola?
Yes. The structure is robust enough to support accessories. ZIP screen blinds can be installed between the columns for sun and wind protection. The blind cassettes and guides are made of aluminum, which can be color-matched to the wood or used to create a contrast (e.g., anthracite).
