Louver Design Development – When Standard Solutions Are Not Enough

1. Is developing a custom louver expensive?
It depends on the project size. The cost of the extrusion tool (die) is a one-time, fixed expense. For larger projects (e.g., commercial buildings, hotels), this cost is distributed over a large number of profiles and becomes negligible. Thanks to weight optimization of the profile, the final price is often even lower than using standard, heavier systems.

2. What is the minimum order quantity for a custom profile?
To make the process economically viable, we typically recommend custom development for projects covering at least several hundred square meters of façade or shading. For smaller projects (e.g., a single-family home), it is usually more practical to adapt one of our standard systems (B140–B400).

3. How long does the process take from concept to delivery?
The process includes design, approval, tool fabrication, and production. Typically, this takes a few weeks longer than standard stock items. We recommend contacting us during the design phase to align the schedule with your construction timeline.

4. Can LED lights be integrated into the louver?
Yes. This is a very common request for modern façades. The profile can be designed with a dedicated slot and cover (diffuser) for an LED strip. This transforms the brise-soleil into an architectural lighting element at night, without visible cables or post-installation attachments.

5. What shapes are possible?
Practically any shape that aluminum extrusion technology allows. From sharp edges (rectangular, square tubes) to smooth, elliptical, or aeronautical shapes. The only limitation is the press size (maximum profile width), but we can accommodate even extreme dimensions.

6. Who guarantees the structural integrity of a custom profile?
Our engineering team. During development, we perform structural calculations (FEA analysis) for the new profile geometry, considering wall thickness and internal reinforcements. The profile is dimensioned to safely withstand wind and snow loads specific to your location.
